Dr. Hafsatou Fifi Diop

Dr. Hafsatou Fifi Diop is the inaugural Assistant Commissioner of Health Equity at the
Massachusetts Department of Public health (MA DPH). Prior to this position, Dr. Diop served as the Director of the Division of Maternal and Child Health Research and Analysis at MA DPH. Dr. Diop is a founding member of the Perinatal-Neonatal Quality Improvement Network (PNQIN), the statewide perinatal quality collaborative for Massachusetts. She served as co-PI of the Massachusetts Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee (MMMRC) for 19 years. As PI and co-PI on multiple grants funded by CDC, HRSA, and NIH, Dr. Diop has a strong track record of contributing to science through the 79 publications she has co-authored. Dr. Diop received her medical degree from the University of Conakry, Guinea in 1990. She completed the 21st International Course of Epidemiology held at the Center for Research (INSERM) in Paris and did her field practicum at the Head Quarters of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland in 1996. She received her Master of Public Health degree with concentration in MCH in 2000 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
