Carlene Pavlos has been the Executive Director of MPHA since April 2018 and is passionate about listening to community voices, growing partnerships, and building power that can change the world. Prior to joining MPHA, Carlene spent nearly 20 years at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, first as the leader of their sexual and domestic violence prevention efforts and ending her time as the Director of the Bureau of Community Health and Prevention where she oversaw a wide range of programs ranging from adolescent and older adult health to chronic disease and injury prevention to tobacco cessation & school health services. Carlene brings to her work a commitment to ending structural racism and has extensive experience working with and learning from incarcerated women.
