Title: Public Health Agent/Compliance Specialist

Summary of Position

The Town of South Hadley seeks an enthusiastic, detail minded, curious and self-motivated Public Health Agent/Compliance Specialist.

This position conducts public health inspections and enforces regulations on a wide variety of public health issues; drafts order letters, conducts follow-up to assist Public Health Director in complaints filed in court for non-compliance.

The Health Agent Compliance Specialist organizes and maintains an efficient office and income and expense records. Provides liaison to public inquiries and provides the public with various forms, applications, permit requests, etc. Maintains Health Department web site related to responsibilities.

Administers permits and conducts inspections for agriculture, businesses, pools, housing and lodging, septic construction, etc. Provides guidance and issuance for a variety of other health department permits. Completes permitting for Recreational Camps for children and provides Public Health Nurse with List of Camps & Forms for Inspections of Medical Records and Procedures.

Associates degree in business or science field desired; High School education and at least two years of related office experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience required. A valid drivers license and use of a personal motor vehicle is required. Training for technical inspections will be provided. Bilingual capabilities desired. Performs similar or related work as required.

This is a full-time, 40 hour a week, benefited union position. Days and hours of work are typically 8am to 5:00pm weekdays, with very occasional emergency work required off hours. Wage range is $22-26 per hour DOE/DOQ.
