Title: Homeless Policy Strategist

Summary of Position
The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for the position of Homelessness Policy Strategist (Coordinator of Homelessness) for the Department of Health and Human Services. This position will supervise the Homelessness Outreach team and provide guidance, training, and support to front-line staff. This position will evaluate the status of homelessness in the city, provides strategic guidance and implements a strategic framework to ending homelessness in the City of Worcester.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding and experience working with underserved populations
- Strong understanding of the social determinants of health and health equity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills and able to prioritize tasks
- Familiarity and understanding of public health data system.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports in a timely manner
- Ability to conceptualize and organize projects into manageable tasks
- Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in public health, health and human services, or a related field
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, OR:
- An equivalent combination of education & experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered in lieu of the above mentioned requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in public health or a related field
- One to two years (years of experience working with vulnerable populations)
- Two (2) years of experience with Program Management
- Experience working at a local health or human services agency or at a local nonprofit agency
- Experience with policy or strategic plan development Expertise in Health Equity and/or Anti-Racist frameworks
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting data
- Experience researching and developing policy
Salary Range: $57,250 – $74,991 annually, full-time, excellent benefits package
