Brief Summary of Position:

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and visionary public health leader to join the DPH senior management team as the Director for the Bureau of Community Health and Prevention. BCHAP is responsible for a wide range of prevention activities that promote the health, safety, and well-being of all the people in Massachusetts. Utilizing a social determinants of health framework that recognizes the majority of our health is created outside of the healthcare setting, BCHAP’s programs and policies support individuals, communities, and organizations in four main areas: 1. chronic disease prevention and wellness, 2. violence and injury prevention and service, 3. access to quality health service, and 4. data analytics and outcomes assessment of disease and injury.

The Bureau Director is responsible for leading work in the following areas:

  • Tobacco control and prevention
  • Oral health
  • Rural health
  • School health
  • Occupational health
  • Healthcare workforce
  • Sexual & domestic violence prevention & services
  • Child and youth violence prevention
  • Suicide prevention
  • Unintentional injury prevention
  • Sexual & reproductive health
  • Adolescent health & youth development
  • Health systems transformation
