Brief Summary of Position:

Coordinator will conduct medical records abstraction based on the data needs of the Congenital Anomalies Registry (Birth Defects Monitoring Program) in the Massachusetts Center for Birth Defects Research and Prevention in order to monitor the diagnoses of congenital anomalies and related conditions to Massachusetts residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications: Ideally, the successful candidate has experience abstracting and/or reviewing medical records, has a certification as “Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)”, as “Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)”, has clinical and/or research experience, has a degree in Public Health or comparable qualifications and/or experience. Experience with computers and Windows-based applications. Ability to work self-directed and independently as well as with others. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Willingness to adhere to strict confidentiality protocols. Experience working in a surveillance program desirable. Facilities are located throughout the Commonwealth: must have valid driver’s license and regular access to car.
