Brief Summary of Position:

The Department of Public Health is seeking a  Program Coordinator II that will provide primary support to Problem Gambling Services (PGS). The Program Coordinator responsibilities include project management, project development, vendor contract management and other program related duties assigned by the Director. Other responsibilities include managing the  Problem Gambling Services action plan including but not limited to the coordination of reports, other interactions with internal and external stakeholders such as the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, other Department of Public Health (DPH) Bureaus, other state agencies, service providers and other strategic partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Problem Gambling Services projects development and management.
  • Provide contract management and primary point of contact for any contracted related issues.
  • Execute amendments and approve invoices and payments.
  • Approve staffing pattern and costs.
  • Monitor execution of work plans.
  • Organize and manage the PGS filing systems as needed to ensure appropriate documentation and record keeping of active files.
  • Ensure the timely production and dissemination of gambling services related data with providers.
  • Develop and manage databases, utilizing Microsoft Access, Excel, and other software and programs.
  • Provide timely response to requests for public information by interested parties.
  • Assist in the writing of RFR or collaborating with the RFR content writer.
  • Respond to external requests for information.
  • Attend internal meetings and work groups.
  • Prepare programmatic and budget reports.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
    Substitutions:
    I. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.*
    II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.*
    III. A Bachelor’s or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
    *Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
