Brief Summary of Position:

DPC is seeking a program coordinator to support and expand the Participatory Action Research (PAR) activities of DPC. The program coordinator will help engage the disability community in research activities, including identifying policy concerns and research questions, carrying out research and identifying/implementing interventions, as well as evaluate the PAR processes. 

Qualifications:

  • Applicant shall have experience in carrying out Participatory Action Research and direct involvement in the Mental Health Recovery Movement

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • “YESHealth”-YESHealth is a PAR initiative by and for people with disabilities, piloted over three years with funding from the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute in consultation with the Mongan Institute at Mass General Hospital. YESHealth engaged with a subset of Massachusetts residents on both Medicaid and Medicare. Activities carried out in YESHealth include:

a. Better understanding the problems/challenges for YESHealth members and accessing healthcare.

b .Investigating the challenges through surveys and interviews as well as other methods as necessary.

c. Taking action by educating YESHealth members their rights and offering specific recommendations for them to take to be in more involved in healthcare and educating providers about the experiences of YESHealth members in healthcare and how, as providers they can improve their services.

  • Urgent care project-DPC is involved in innovative PAR project with the Mongan Institute and Commonwealth Care Alliance. As a partner in the research, DPC is responsible for conducting interviews of:

a. CCA members that have received urgent care through CCA to better understand their experiences.

b. Care providers, family members and/or others who may have been present at the time of the CCA member receiving services to better understand their perceptions of how care was provided.

Compensation:

  • This is a part-time grant funded 20 hour per week position.  Compensation is $22 per hour plus sick and vacation time.
