Action Alert! Protect the Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund (PWTF)!

Please contact your state Representative this week to ask them to co-sponsor Amendment #24 to continue funding for the Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund.

On April 10, 2017, the Massachusetts House Ways and Means Committee released their proposal for the FY18 state budget without reference to PWTF. As planned, Representative Vega filed an amendment to the budget which would add language to continue funding for PWTF.

We are now in a critical window to build support for the PWTF budget amendment in the House, and YOU can help get it adopted.

Here’s what you can do:

1. Contact Your Representative. Email or call your Representative (or all the Reps who represent the region that you serve) and ask them to co-sponsor Amendment #24.
2. Spread the Word! Share the link to this action alert with your networks. Use the sample Twitter and Facebook posts below to get your friends and followers involved.
3. Let us Know You Took Action. Send MPHA Policy Director Maddie Ribble an email at: mribble@mapublichealth.org, letting him know you took action.

All the information you need is below, including a sample phone and email script and template social media posts.

• It’s important that we get this amendment into the budget because funding for PWTF will sunset in June 2017 without legislative action, and all of the good work of PWTF will be dismantled.
• PWTF does not require any state funding; it is supported by a very small assessment on health insurers.
• The Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund is important to me/my community because [say in a few sentences why you care about PWTF and how PWTF benefits to your community.]
• Can we count on the Representative’s support?
• Thank you very much for your time.
