Brief Summary of Position: The Scholars Strategy Network is seeking a full-time Communications professional to inject research and scholarly perspectives into public debates, build relationships with journalists and media outlets, and contribute to the organization’s overall communications strategy. The Specialist will work at the Scholars Strategy Network office located at 675 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139.


  • Edits opinion pieces, articles and letters to the editor from scholars and pitch to media outlets
  • Searches for news hooks and opportunities to insert research into public conversations
  • Helps scholars communicate their research and ideas effectively
  • Identifies key journalists and help the communications team build relationships
  • Communicates with members, media, potential donors, and other stakeholders on- and offline, including building and maintaining email lists and newsletters
  • Assists with database and project management
  • Completes other communications tasks as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in journalism, communications, or related fields
  • Positive, can-do attitude
