On May 12, 2016, MPHA hosted a forum, Marijuana Legalization: Long Overdue Criminal Justice Reform or Public Health Threat? Panelists from diverse perspectives discussed the implications of legalization of marijuana and the strengths and weaknesses of the ballot initiative to legalize marijuana that is expected to be before Massachusetts voters in November. The discussion was at times passionate as forum panelists and audience members grappled with the complex and controversial issue. MPHA will continue to provide opportunities for our members to learn about the potential impacts of the ballot initiative to legalize marijuana.
The panel included Mo Barboso, Health Resources in Action and Men of Color Health Task Force; Jim Borghesani, Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol; Dr. Kevin Hill, McLean Hospital; Senator Jason Lewis; and Regina Hufnagel, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition.
