The Plan4Health Coalition, a collaboration led by Metropolitan Area Planning Council(MAPC) between MAPC, MPHA and local community partners, is launching the Greater Boston Association of Convenience Stores (GBACS) as a way to improve distribution networks, increase access to healthy foods, and support healthy retail initiatives in the Boston area. As a new membership organization, GBACS will connect convenience store owners with resources and services that support their businesses, with a goal of helping store owners be successful and have a positive impact in their community. Plan4Health integrates seven existing municipal coalitions to increase access to healthy food within Boston’s Inner Core region. Project objectives include establishing distribution networks, supporting healthy retail initiatives, and collaborating with grocery stores to promote and feature healthy foods.
