Brief Summary of Position:

The KIDZ Program Coordinator works with youth ages 5-11, coordinating programming that is age appropriate and that fosters opportunities for multi-racial youth. Activities include running and coordinating workshops that focus on arts and culture, wellness initiatives, recreational and educational opportunities, and other multi-thematic activities; serve as a support system for at-risk, low-income, multi-racial youth; and build collaborations with parents, partners, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure the success young people, particularly low-income youth and youth of color.

Responsibilities: 

  • Foster structure within the CYC KIDZ program, specifically focusing in enhancing CYC’s role as a multicultural safe-space
  • Coordinate workshops and cultural arts programming that will expose youth to multicultural themes, in areas such as dance, music, and art; science and math and other educational themes, etc. (activities must be prepared a month in advance), on a weekly basis
  • Conduct youth outreach efforts in conjunction with all youth staff
  • Provide informal counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy and follow-up with all youth
  • Build partnerships within the community and increase the number of collaborative programs with other youth agencies, organizations, other agencies, and businesses
  • Coordination and assistance with fieldtrips
  • Assist children in creating their personal goals for the year and assist them in completing them
  • Coordinate and implement Summer UP program activities
  • Assist Youth Programs Director with youth related events
  • Responsible for picking up snacks at Reingold Elementary School Monday through Friday before 1:30pm. Maintain accurate records of youth served and report to program partner
  • Implement Youth Wellness Initiative including healthy eating, body movement, BMI tracking, and other wellness related workshops
  • Build relationships with parents and link them to other UNF/CNC services and programs
  • Work with other UNF/CNC/CYC staff to organize/assist with family and children events as a community engagement tool
  • Build relationships with teachers and school administrators to form a support system for the youth and families
  • Participate in the UNF’s Community Dinners twice a month, helping as needed (including bringing youth to dinner location and supervising them during dinner time)
  • Work with teen mentors and tutors in the Teen Program for program assistance and to develop their leadership skills, working in conjunction with the Teen Program Coordinator
  • Screen and supervise all After School Program volunteers
  • Supervise After School Program Assistant and have bi-weekly meetings to check in on weekly activities and progress

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with different racial and ethnic groups

  • Ability to inspire others, creative, enthusiastic, and motivator
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience creating and implementing curriculum
  • Ability to work with youth and implement structure
  • Comfortable working with volunteers and tutors
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Valid driver’s license
