A collaborative project of the Boston Public Health Commission and the Boston Alliance for Community Health, Let’s Get Healthy, Boston! had its launch event on Saturday September 19th at the Roxbury YMCA. To support the healthy eating aspect of the project the event featured local food truck, Fresh Food Generation, who supplied lunch for the attendees, and The Fresh Truck Food Market, a school bus turned fruit and vegetable mobile market, where attendees could do some healthy grocery shopping. The event also featured activities around smoke free housing, bike safety, and safe routes to school.
Residents from all of Boston’s neighborhood were invited to attend the event which went from 10-1pm. Special guests included U.S. Congressman Michael Capuano, BPHC Interim Executive Director Dr. Huy Nguyen, Boston Chief of Health and Human Services Felix Arroyo and Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson. It was a great day to celebrate and promote health in the city.
