Brief Summary of Position:

Reporting to the American Lung Association in Rhode Island Director of Health Education and Public Policy, the TFRI Network Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all day-to-day activities of the Network, with the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate communications among Network members on tobacco news, research and policy issues
  • Facilitate discussions and convene meetings so Network members can collaborate on public education projects and policy change strategies
  • Provide technical assistance, resources and support to Network members in their tobacco control work
  • Coordinate public education campaigns and events
  • Coordinate and mobilize grassroots support from Network members for state and local policy initiatives
  • Research, track and analyze changes in RI tobacco control policy and tobacco-related legislation

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, political or social sciences, or equivalent
  • Experience in public affairs, community organizing, public education issue campaigns or media campaigns, policy research and / or coalition work is advantageous
  • Ideal candidates will have campaigns and / or event organizing experience, possess knowledge of tobacco control / public health policy, Rhode Island communities and non-profit organizations, and familiarity with the Rhode Island policy landscape and the workings of state and local government
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, enjoy working with people, be a strong writer, an effective and diplomatic verbal communicator, and a strategic thinker and planner
  • Must be able to maintain databases, develop effective campaign materials, email newsletters and flyers, web and social media content
  • Must have valid driver’s license and car as position requires statewide travel

Time Status:

Full-time state grant-funded position, 35 hours per week

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Plus occasional evening work for community meetings and events
