About the Position:

The Town of Cohasset, an active, south shore waterfront community, seeks a Director of Public Health.  Reporting to the Town Manager and serving as part of an integrated permit and enforcement operation, the Director will serve as liaison to and provide staff assistance for the Board of Health; recommend and implement public and environmental health programs and policies; and serve as the Town’s agent in addressing issues including but not limited to infectious disease, lead poisoning, housing inspections, food service inspections, hazardous waste, Right to Know regulations, tobacco control, septic systems and groundwater control.

The position requires knowledge of federal, state and local public health laws and regulations, and public administration skills equivalent to a Master’s Degree in public health policy or administration, and knowledge of environmental issues and basic office computer applications as well as three (3) years of public health or environmental health experience, including supervisory experience. An RS and a CHO is preferred.  Title V experience is required.  A valid motor vehicle license is necessary.

Candidates should have strong leadership, supervision and public management skills; experience in employee and customer relations; the ability to work both collaboratively and independently; and a genuine interest in working with the community in an open and accessible manner.  Salary range, $69,360 – $75,075.  Cohasset offers a comprehensive benefits package.
