MPHA and the Western MA Health Equity Network Continue their Collaboration

After participating on the steering committee to help plan first-ever Western MA Health Equity Summit last year, MPHA is thrilled to continue working with the Western MA Health Equity Network (WMHEN) in 2015. Together we’ll identify a few policy focus areas that are particularly important to advance health equity in Massachusetts’ four western counties. The 300+ participants at the 2014 Summit spurred the creation of WMHEN and provided valuable ideas for better understanding regional concerns. Building on that input, WMHEN will host a gathering plus an online poll in March to identify which parts of MPHA’s policy agenda Western MA advocates want to focus on. Later in the spring, WMHEN will identify the chosen priorities, host strategy meetings, and keep regional advocates informed about when they need to take action to advance their chosen priorities. To learn more about the WMHEN (and to see some great video clips from the Summit) go to their Facebook page or email your contact info, with “WMHEN e-list” in the subject line to Risa Silverman. Many thanks to the UMass-Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences for igniting this multi-partner effort!
