Brief Summary of Position:

To support the expanding land and water restoration work of the Groundwork network and low-income communities throughout the nation, Groundwork USA is hiring a Program Manager for Land and Water Programs. The LWP Manager will be part of a team working with communities on today’s most exciting environmental and sustainable development strategies.

Responsibilities:  

  • Environmental Justice, Equitable Development and Brownfields Redevelopment: Groundwork USA is initiating a five-year program of technical assistance to communities with high concentrations of brownfields. The program will feature working groups, webinars, toolkit development, and one-on-one technical assistance.
  • Brownfields Area-Wide Planning: Groundwork USA will continue a technical assistance program initiated in 2013 to assist recipients of EPA Brownfields Area-Wide Planning grants with community engagement and implementation strategies.
  • Urban Waters Learning Network: In partnership with EPA and the River Network, Groundwork USA leads an active network of urban waters practitioners, strengthening their work and building the field of practice.
  • Community-Based Green Infrastructure: Groundwork USA will work with its network, EPA and local partners to build a national stormwater green infrastructure program that helps distressed urban neighborhoods become more resilient and provides sustainable revenue for community organizations and jobs for residents.

Approximately 70% of the LWP Manager’s time will be devoted to brownfields-related work, supporting our Director of Network Development, and approximately 30% of her or his time will be devoted to urban waters work, supporting our River Program Director. The preferred location for the position is Lawrence, Massachusetts, or Yonkers, New York, but consideration will be given to Denver, Colorado, and some other Groundwork Trust communities.
