Title: Leadership Development Coordinator

Organization: Youth Pride Inc. (Rhode Island)

Salary Range: This is a full-time position with a salary range of $30,000 to $35,000. The schedule for this position is usually Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. Some flexibility required.

Brief Summary of Position:

Youth Pride Inc.’s mission is to meet the unique and ongoing needs of youth and young adults impacted by sexual orientation and gender identity/expression through advocacy, support, and empowerment to bring about social change.

We are searching for a Leadership Development Coordinator who can help our organization empower the next generation of LGBTQQ youth leaders by overseeing three important components of our organization:

  • OUTspoken Leadership Development Training
    • Oversee the planning, coordination, marketing and recruitment related to OUTspoken—our
      youth leadership development program that focuses on advocacy and social justice
    • With assistance from other Youth Pride Inc. staff, present the OUTspoken training program
      at least three times per year
    • Revise curriculum as necessary
  • Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) Coalition
    • Outreach to GSAs throughout Rhode Island and provide technical assistance as needed
    • Oversee and facilitate monthly GSA Coalition meetings (attended by GSA participants
      throughout the state)
    • Oversee, plan, and facilitate Youth Pride Inc.’s annual GSA Conference
  • Drop-In Center Programming
    • With input from our Youth Programming Council and assistance from the Youth Worker,
      oversee the planning, coordination, marketing, and recruitment related to all of our drop-in
      center programming

Other Duties include, but are not limited to, direct supervision of our part-time Youth Worker and some interns/volunteers, data collection, grant reporting, and facilitating professional development workshops on topics related to serving LGBTQQ youth

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a diverse population of youth; LGBTQQ youth experience preferred
  • Knowledge about intersectionality, systems of oppression, identity, building community, and other topics related to social justice and leadership development
  • Strong organizational skills including task and time management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment essential
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Ability to adapt to fast-changing and fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Advanced computer skills, especially with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Successful candidate must pass a BCI background check
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Youth Development or related field strongly desired
