Job Description:Contract Grants Coach

The YWCA of Greater Lawrence seeks to hire a contract grant writer with significant experience in identifying grant opportunities and crafting successful proposals for collaborative, community public health initiatives involving numerous stakeholders and designed to reduce health disparities and inequities in the city of Lawrence, with a focus on the Latino population. The consultant will work with the YWCA grant writer and grant writers from partner organizations (primarily the City of Lawrence Mayor’s Health Task Force, Merrimack Valley YMCA, Greater Lawrence Family Health Center and Groundwork Lawrence) to more effectively identify and craft at least one major grant proposal to improve health and wellbeing in Lawrence. The consultant will also work to create a file of boilerplate materials for use in future grant applications. Work will be performed both onsite in Lawrence and remotely. Work will begin in October of 2015 and conclude by May 30, 2015

Duration: September 2014 through May 2015

Approximately 40 hours total

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher or extensive experience in field
  • Background in public health or healthcare
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated success in writing successful complex, multi-stakeholder grant applications
  • Knowledge of grant research and understanding of funding sites including, but not limited to grants.gov, CommBuys, Foundation Center, AGM
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about health disparities and inequities, particularly in the Latino community
  • Project management skills
  • Willingness to travel to Lawrence, MA on an agreed-upon schedule
