Barnstable to receive state award
By Conor Powers-Smith
Barnstable has been chosen as one of 11 towns to receive the Massachusetts Public Health Association’s Healthy by Design Community Leadership Award. According to Town Manager Thomas Lynch, “The award is in recognition of Main Street Hyannis’s adoption of flexible zoning changes that promote mixed-use development while preserving historical character, and for streetscape improvements that encourage walking and provide a link from downtown Hyannis to Hyannis Harbor.”
The award will be presented at an event at the State House in Boston on Oct. 9.
